Local Ramblers Groups within the Northamptonshire Area
There are four local groups in Northamptonshire that run their own walk calendars and social events. Below you’ll find brief descriptions of the groups and links to their websites and social media platforms.
When you join the Ramblers you can choose which group you wish to belong to but as a member you are welcome to join any group walk anywhere in the country. The northamptonshire groups are:
Northampton
https://www.northamptonra.org.uk/
The Northampton group welcomes walkers of all ages and abilities. We organise a wide range of led walks from Wellbeing Walks and leisurely 3 to 4 mile strolls up to strenuous 15 to 20 mile hikes. There is usually a walk every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday together with evening walks in the summer. We also organise a number of walking holidays each year which are open to all members of the Ramblers, as well as social events such as Christmas meals and after-walk meals. Visit our website for more information.
Kettering

Kettering group extend a warm welcome to all walkers. Whilst our name is Kettering we have members from the surrounding towns particularly Desborough, Rothwell and Corby, as well as the smaller towns and villages of East Northants. We are a friendly group and some members travel from much further afield.
Primarily our walks are Saturday or Sunday each week and are 4 to 14 miles long, most being 6 -9 miles. Our walks tend to be in the north of the county of Northamptonshire, though we do stray over the border into Leicestershire, Rutland, Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire. We have at least one long week end trip to hillier parts of the country each year and forge contacts with other Ramblers from neighbouring groups.
Wellingborough

Our walk schedule is both comprehensive and varied with gentle paced morning strolls of approximately 4/5 miles either on a Tuesday or a Sunday to faster paced walks of 7.5 to 8 miles held on a Wednesday and a Saturday. There are also longer distance more challenging walks of between 10 and 12 miles organised on a Thursday. All the walks are of a circular route. Usual turn out is about 10 to 25 people at any one time. On most days a 10.00am start other than on the Wednesday when we start and finish from a local pub at 9.30am. In total throughout the year we organise about 200 walks from varied locations within Northamptonshire.
Our experienced leaders also organise annual weeks away in Spring and Summer to another part of the UK and abroad within Europe.
We are a friendly group of local people so come and join us.
Lets Get Ready to Ramble Northants (formerly Northants 20s-40s)
https://www.facebook.com/letsgetreadytoramblenorthants
We are a group of people of working age, typically in our 40s and 50s, from in and around Northamptonshire, who enjoy walking and socialising together. Our walks take place on Sundays, two or three weekends a month and range from local walks to hikes in more interesting areas a bit further afield, such as the Peak District, the Cotswolds, the Chilterns, the South Downs etc. Typically are walks are 8-12 miles long. In the summer we have Wednesday evening walks on approximately two evenings a month.
All our walks are free and led by volunteers from members of the Group.
